Software revenue increases 40 times in 10 years

The impressive figures were presented at the third Congress of the Việt Nam Software Association (Vinasa) for the 2010-2015 term, which opened on November 13 in Hà Nội.

Established in April 2002, Vinasa has so far gathered more than 300 software enterprises in Việt Nam. In its 2005-2010 term, the Association helped Vietnamese software enterprises conquer both domestic and foreign markets, maintaining the average annual growth rate of over 30%.

Now, up to 70% of the software industry’s workforce has college or university degrees. Việt Nam has become a potential market deeply interested by Japan, the Republic of Korea, India and other IT powers.

At the congress, Deputy PM Nguyễn Thiện Nhân highly appreciated the great leap of the software industry as well as the role of Vinasa.

To overcome the shortcomings, including small scale and limited capital, Deputy PM Nhân recommended the stronger cooperation among domestic firms, especially large ones. He urged them to intensify information technology training, and develop software products and strong software centers.

On behalf of the State President, Deputy PM Nhân confered a third-class Labor Medal to Vinasa for its remarkable contributions.
