MIC and ITU signed a cooperation agreement on satellite control

On November, 11, in Hanoi, the signing ceremony of cooperation agreement between the Authority of Radio Frequency Management (MIC) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Minister Truong Minh Tuan attended and witnessed the ceremony.

Attending the signing ceremony were the Director of ITU’s Radiocommunication Bureau, Mr. Francois Rancy; Director General of Authority of Radio Frequency Management Doan Quang Hoan as well as representatives of MIC’s functional units.
 
After the Authority of Radio Frequency Management successfully registered satellite control stations to the international list, the ITU Radiocommunication Bureau proposed Vietnam to participate in the cooperation agreement to control the satellites. The cooperation agreement is a tool to support ITU in implementing the tests relating to interference cases that a member state recommend includes: testing the compatibility between satellite networks and registered parameters; checking the compatibility between satellite networks and allocated parameters, etc.
 
In addition, the cooperation enhances the prestige of Vietnam, strengthens its cooperation with the ITU, enhances the ability to protect Vietnam's satellite network, improves the skills of the staff to meet international standards.
 
Mr. Francois Rancy expressed his pleasure to be on behalf of the ITU Secretary-General attended and signed the agreement. He said that the satellite control was an extremely important activity prescribed by the ITU. The cooperation would allow ITU to control the satellites in the region and in Vietnam to effectively use frequency resources.

Earlier, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan met and worked with Mr. Francois Rancy. Minister Truong Minh Tuan expressed his pleasure to welcomed and worked with Mr. Francois Rancy. At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the position and role of the ITU in the development of telecommunications and information technology in a global scale, the coordination of ITU in enhancing the staff’s ability, policy making, conference and seminar organization in Vietnam, etc.
