Deputy Minister Phan Tam attends Mobile World Congress 2016

From 22 - 25 February, 2016, the delegation of Ministry of Information and Communications, led by Deputy Minister Phan Tam, attended Mobile World Congress (MWC 2016) in Barcelona, Spain.

 MWC 2016 was held by GSM Association, with the attendance of more than 100,000 participants and guests from 204 countries and territories. About 2,200 companies exhibited to introduce their products and services. More than 40 countries built their national pavilions.

Up to 2016, in the whole world, there are over 7.3 billion mobile subscribers, about 50% of which are connected by broadband connections, and it is expected that by the year 2020, this number will increase to approximately 70%.
 
The number of mobile subscribers worldwide grows very fast, but largely concentrated in developed countries and urban areas, especially for mobile broadband with Internet connections. Currently the majority of people in rural areas and mountainous areas in developing countries are not accessed to mobile services, and 3.4 billion people are not connected to the Internet.
 
Mobile communication plays an important role in economic development across the globe, with an estimated value of $ 3.1 trillion, accounting for 4.2% of GDP globally with 32 million jobs created.
 
At MWC 2016, Viettel is the first enterprise of Vietnam having a booth to promote its products and services to partners and customers worldwide. With MWC 2016, Viettel confirmed its position and promoted its brand with leading mobile operators.
 
Under the working program, the delegation of Ministry of Information and Communications attended  sessions, forums, discussions of the Ministerial Programme, visited the exhibition area and discussed with operators, manufacturers, providers of mobile equipment, solutions, applications, etc.
