Vietnam and ITU jointly organize the Virtual Digital World Awards 2020
On December 7, 2020, the Ministry of Information and Communications cooperated with ITU to organize the ITU Virtual Digital World SME Awards (ITU) for small and medium enterprises (SME).
With the message "Virtual Platform, Real Acknowledgment", the Award aims to honor SMEs with innovative technology solutions with positive influence and practical applicability, serving the community and society. The prize includes 04 categories: i) Connectivity; ii) Smart cities and smart living; iii) Electronic health (E-Health) and iv) Digital Finance.
Launched in August 2020, ITU organized online competitions and established a Jury of experts from many fields around the world to participate in evaluating, voting and selecting the four most typical SMEs to be the winner for 04 respective categories.
The representative of Vietnam, BusMap JSC, with its multi-layer map application to facilitate bus selection and transit, is the winner for the Smart City category. The three winning teams for the remaining categories include the following representatives: Astrome Company, India (Connection category); Appy Saude Company, Angola (Electronic Health) and OKO Finance, Israel (Digital Finance).
Attending and speaking at the awards ceremony, Deputy Minister Phan Tam highly appreciated the cooperation of ITU in coordinating and successfully organizing the first Digital World Awards held in the virtual form. The Deputy Minister emphasized the leading role of ITU in promoting global SME digital enterprises and affirmed the commitments of the Government of Vietnam in creating a favorable policy environment for digital enterprises, promoting digital transformation and making Vietnam a country of innovation in the coming time.
The SME Award is an annual program organized by ITU within the framework of the World Telecom Expo (ITU Telecom World). Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, Vietnam continues to propose and coordinate with ITU to successfully organize the first Virtual World Conference and Exhibition 2020. The SME Award was also launched, prepared and organized online from August 2020.
