Minister Nguyen Manh Hung receives the Secretary-General of ASEAN
On August 26, in Hanoi, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung had a meeting with Mr. Lim Jock Hoi, ASEAN Secretary-General to discuss about the Ministry's initiatives and activities in the year 2020 when Viet Nam takes ASEAN Chair.
The Minister introduced to the ASEAN Secretary-General the initiatives and activities of the Ministry of Information and Communications in particular and Vietnam in general during the ASEAN Chair Year of Vietnam. Ministry of Information and Communications has asked ASEAN countries to implement one common roaming rate. Currently 5 countries participates in this initiative. The Minister expected Mr. Lim Jock Hoi as Secretary-General to promote this initiative to attract the participation of the remaining members of ASEAN.
Ministry of Information and Communications also establishes ASEAN ICT University; ASEAN cyber security network and 5 ASEAN countries participates in sharing information and experiences.
The Government of Vietnam cooperates with the World Economic Forum to establish the Industrial Revolution 4.0 Center. When the Center comes into operation in October, Vietnam will share with ASEAN countries about policies for new technologies and business models.
In the field of 5G, Vietnam is a pioneer in ASEAN through organizing workshops to share experiences of 5G pilot implementation.
Mr. Lim Jock Hoi highly appreciated the efforts and specific actions of the Ministry of Information and Communication in the ICT sector and hoped that Vietnam would continue to share initiatives and experiences with ASEAN.
