Kim Jong Un arriving to Hanoi for the historic summit

President Kim Jong Un's delegation will visit Viettel to exchange experiences and discuss co-operation opportunities in the fields of telecommunications, IT, and production research on February 28 during the DPRK-US Hanoi Summit, as stated by newswire ICTnews.

The summit between US President Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), will take place in Hanoi on February 27-28.

This leading international event is central to regional and global peace and has been a critical issue for decades. Through this summit, Vietnam also hopes to strengthen its and the ASEAN’s role in the international community, wishing to introduce its achievements of comprehensive innovation over the past decades.

Viettel is currently the largest enterprise in the field of research and production of tele-communications and IT products and equipment. On February 21, 2019, the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) announced the list of 50 operators in the world that have successfully implemented NarrowBand-IoT (NB-IoT), including Viettel as the only representative from Vietnam.

Earlier, at the beginning of December 2018, Viettel successfully activated 30 broadcasting stations as well as the platform providing services using NB-IoT technology in Hanoi. Therefore, Viettel became the first network operator in Vietnam to successfully deploy a commercial IoT network. Viettel's entire infrastructure and foundation for IoT will be ready to serve customers in the first half of 2019. As planned, Viettel will complete the entire NB-IoT coverage in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in the first quarter of 2019 before gradually investing in nationwide coverage and foreign markets.

Recently, Viettel has established a network security company. This company is directly assigned to research and implement overall solutions to ensure information security and safety and to meet the challenges of digital transformation, including security solutions for IoT and software, IT applications, as well as smart cloud information security monitoring solutions, which can be deployed on a national scale for large organisations.
