Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung appointed to be Acting Minister of Information and Communications

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc issued Decision 900/QD-TTg on July 25 to give the authority of a Minister of Information and Communications to Major General Nguyen Manh Hung, Member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)’s Central Committee and Chairman cum General Director of the Viettel Group.

Earlier, the Politburo issued a decision to appoint Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung as Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Information and Communications for the 2016-2021 tenure, cum Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Communication and Education Commission.
 
On July, 27th, in Ha Noi, the Ministry of Information and Communications organized the Conference to implement the Politburo’s decision on MIC personnel work.
 
Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, born in 1962, was trained as an electronic- telecommunications engineer in the former Soviet Union (now the Russian Federation). He earned a master’s degree in telecommunications in Australia and a master’s degree in business management from the National Economics University of Viet Nam. 

He was promoted to Major General in 2012. In 2016 at the 12th Party Congress, he was elected as a member of the CPV’s Central Committee. 
 
He was appointed Chairman cum General Director of the Viettel Group under a decision of the Prime Minister dated June 14, 2018.

In more than 30 years working, he has made important contributions to the development of Vietnam's electronics, telecommunications and information technology, from the development of broadband telecommunications infrastructure to the spread of telecommunication market abroad, R&D, production of technology equipment.
