Receiving Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique, Le Huy Hoang, and the leaders of Movitel, a joint venture between Viettel and Mozambique’s SPI and Invespar companies in Maputo on July 11, Deputy Minister Rebelo also urged Viettel to boost its 4G network investment, as well as increasing the use of Movitel’s modern services to support Mozambique’s agricultural development, education and many other socio-economic fields.

She also expressed her hope that the two countries would soon sign an agreement on air transport and promote cooperation in maritime training, contributing to strengthening their bilateral cooperation in transport.

Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Le Huy Hoang expressed his great appreciation for Mozambique's Ministry of Transport and Communications for taking measures to support Movitel and other Vietnamese enterprises operating in the country.

The Ambassador expressed his wish that the Ministry will continue to create favourable conditions for Movitel to expand its operations, including the development of a national television service, the 4G network, and the provision of telecommunications services in disadvantaged areas.

On the occasion, Movitel officially informed the Deputy Minister that Viettel has decided to sponsor two scholarships worth over US$ 50,000 to support Mozambican students to study in electronics and telecommunication at Hanoi University of Technology. The courses are scheduled to start in September 2018.

Deputy Minister Manuel Rebelo expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the scholarships sponsored by Viettel, saying that it demonstrated the commitment of Viettel in supporting Mozambique in telecommunications
