Bilateral talk between Ministry of Information and Communications of S.R.Viet Nam and Ministry of Posts and Telematics of Laos

At the talk, Minister Truong Minh Tuan welcomed Minister Thansamay Kommasith and the delegation of Ministry of Posts and Telematics of Laos. The Minister congratulates for Lao’s achievements in socio-economic development in general and in the field of post and telecommunications in particular.

 

The Minister affirmed that the first visit of Mr. Thansamay Kommasith as Minister of Posts and Telematics of Laos would contribute to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries in the fields of post, telecommunications and IT. The visit took place at the moment when the two countries commemorated the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relation, showing the friendship between the two countries.

 

At the talk, Minister Truong Minh Tuan gave an overview of the development of post, telecommunications and IT in Vietnam. Ministry of Information and Communication has supported Laos in the fields of telecommunications, Internet, e-government, digital signatures, radio frequencies, satellites, information security, human resources development. Minister Truong Minh Tuan affirmed his commitments to continue supporting Laos to train high quality human resources (masters) in the coming years while continuing to open training courses; short-term courses in post, telecommunications, IT for Laos officials.

 

The Minister affirmed that the two Ministries had cooperated closely and supported each other in international organizations such as ITU, UPU ...

 

The Minister of Posts and Telematics of Laos thanked for the warm welcome of Minister of Information and Communications.

 

Minister Thansamay Kommasith said that 2016 was an important milestone for the Ministry of Posts and Telematics by submitting three laws on Post, Telecommunications, Frequency; and the establishment of LAOCERT. Currently, the Ministry is drafting a decree on digital signature and preparing human resources to set up a digital signature center.

 

Regarding the cooperation between the two ministries, Minister Thansamay Kommasith suggested that the Ministry of Information and Communication continued to support Laos in building a digital authentication center, consultancy in building e-government, training human resources, information security, standards in the field of post, telecommunications, IT, telecommunications management, etc.

 

Minister Truong Minh Tuan affirmed that trade promotion in the fields of post, telecommunications and IT should be strengthened to create conditions for enterprises to cooperate effectively and practically.

 

The Minister of Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Posts and Telematics of Laos for facilitating Vietnam post and telecommunication enterprises such as VNPT, FPT and Viettel to do business in Laos.

 

At the talks, the Signing Ceremony of the Plan for cooperation agreement between Ministry of Information and Communications of S.R. Viet Nam and Ministry of Posts and Telematics of Laos; and the Minutes of cooperation in the field of computer emergency rescue between VNCERT and LAOCERT, were organized.
