Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hong receives Vice President of the US-ASEAN Business Council

On May 17, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong met with Mr. Michael Michalak, Senior Vice President of US-ASEAN Business Council.

At the reception, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hong emphasized that Vietnam and the United States had made great developments in the two countries' cooperation over the past 10 years, especially in investment and trade. The support and cooperation between the two countries’s businesses contribute to promoting the relationship between the United States and Vietnam.

The Deputy Minister applauded the US-ASEAN Business Council for the development and implementation of effective and appropriate technical assistance for Vietnamese enterprises.
 
In that spirit, the Deputy Minister expressed his hope that the US-ASEAN Business Council would continue to actively support the Vietnamese business community to operate effectively and to raise their competitiveness.
 
Mr. Michael Michalak said the US businesses concerned about the economy and commerce in the digital era, as well as cross-border data flow in Vietnam. At the same time, he also expressed his wish to be updated about the Law on Information Technology, the contents of Circular No. 38/2016/TT-BTTTT relating to the provision of cross-border public information and the Law on Information Security.
 
Mr. Michael Michalak also reported about the results that the US-ASEAN Business Council achieved during its operations in several countries in the region such as Indonesia, Cambodia, and the United States; and hoped to continue its investment and development in Vietnam in the future.
 
Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hong said, with the aim of developing a socialist-oriented market economy, Vietnam always welcomed and created the best conditions and environment for international companies and corporations to invest, including US corporations, especially in the field of information and communication technology.
