"Big Data - Opportunities and Challenges for Business and Management" Conference

On May 17, in Hanoi, on the occasion of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, Ministry of Information and Communications held the "Big Data - Opportunities and Challenges for Business and Management" Conference. Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam attended and delivered the opening speech.

The 17th of May was selected by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to be World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, to convey messages, encourage members to exploit, maximize advantages of telecommunication and information technologies for all activities of the socio-economic life.
 
The topic of "Big Data for Big Impact" has brought the expectation to promote the role and influence of Big Data in the context of the world moving to the digital economy. Both the State and businesses are eager to make the most of the latest technology advances in Big Data to provide better services to meet the needs of users, towards the goal of developing and improving the information society.
 
Deputy Minister Phan Tam said that Big Data could also be used by bad guys to cause negative effects, therefore, created great challenges in terms of management and governance. We have to make more efforts to create a legal corridor for Big Data to develop healthier in Vietnam. The objective is to bring practical benefits to all stakeholders, to protect the legitimate rights and interests of citizen data, to ensure that the data is not misused, as well as to ensure information and nation security.
 
At the conference, delegates and experts from MIC units and telecommunication operators exchanged experience and ideas in building databases.
