Vietnam - India: Opportunity for cooperation in the field of telecommunications and digital connection

On March 27, the delegation of Ministry of Information and Communications of S.R.Vietnam led by Minister Truong Minh Tuan had the first working day in India. Participating in the delegation were Mr. Pham Van Linh, Deputy Head of the Central Commission for Propaganda and Training and leaders of departments and units under the Ministry of Information and Communications. The activities of the Delegation in India was attended by the Ambassador of Vietnam to India, Mr. Ton Sinh Thanh.

On the visit of the delegation to the Ministry of Communications of India, Minister Manoj Sinha emphasized that Vietnam was an important partner of India in Southeast Asia. The visit of Minister Truong Minh Tuan, in the position of both the Minister of MIC of Vietnam and President of Vietnam-India Friendship Association, is an important and special event when the two countries are celebrating the 45th anniversary of friendship and the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership. Minister Manoj Sinha believed that the Minister Truong Minh Tuan's visit would boost bilateral relations.
 
Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan emphasized that the Government of Vietnam identified telecommunications, ICT were key factors in creating a new development mode, an important driving force for the development and modernization of the country, enhancing the national competitiveness and international integration. India is a country with strong ICT development. The two sides have great potential to promote cooperative activities, exchanges of information and experience. Further strengthening cooperation between the Governments and enterprises of the two countries will help the two sides to better understand each other in order to promote cooperative activities in an effective and sustainable manner.
 
Minister Truong Minh Tuan highly appreciated the Government of India's credit valued USD 1 billion to support digital connectivity projects for ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, and would like to work closely with the Ministry of Communications of India in feasible projects: Sharing experience in formulating policies and regulations on management of post and telecommunications; Sharing experience in 4G, 5G and public utility telecommunication, rural telecommunication, digital connection; the issue of the stampset to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-India relation; scholarships for courses at the Indian National Institute of Posts and Telecommunications; strengthening the exchange of business delegations between the two countries to exchange experience and seek cooperation opportunities; etc.
 
On March 27, Minister Truong Minh Tuan and the delegation attended the Vietnam-India Business Meeting organized by Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council of India (TEPC) to exchange opportunities, solutions to implement the Digital Connectivity proposed by the Government of India to support ASEAN countries, including Vietnam.
 
On the same day, the delegation visited the Vietnamese Embassy in New Deli. Minister Truong Minh Tuan informed the country's situation, emphasizing important foreign affairs tasks, including external information missions.
