IT products selected for Vietnamese Talents Awards

A shortlist of the 20 best IT products were selected for the final round of Vietnamese Talents Awards 2016 (Nhan tai đat Viet), with the theme "For the quality of life".

The awards ceremony will be held on November 19.

Ten products were selected in the most promising products category, including AntBuddy, which helps firms control and manage customer information through cloud solutions; Vreader, which aids blind people by reading  textbooks in Vietnamese and English; and Tripi.vn, which suggests tour packages for travellers.

Also, there are seven products for mobile phones that have made the final round this year. Some included Monkey Junior, a children's English teaching software; Xpeak software, which helps improve communication skills for English learners; and Moki, a mobile phone application which sells products just for mothers and children.

Participating in the awards are three products that have proven their worth. They are VNPT-Igate, which arranges and checks administrative document forms through only one website; My Vinaphone assists Vinaphone subscribers to monitor and manage their accounts and packages; and a mobile phone software which checks batch codes on products.

Speaking at a ceremony held on Monday to announce the list of 20 IT products to compete in the final round, editor-in-chief of Dantri/DTiNews Newspaper and head of the Vietnamese Talents Awards 2016 organizing board Pham Huy Hoan revealed that there are 260 entries from various countries, including Japan, New Zealand, and Canada.

According to a member of the jury board, Nguyen Long, who is also deputy secretary general of the Vietnam Association for Information Processing, this year there were a large number of products entered into the competition from start-up groups.

Long said this was also a positive sign for the Vietnamese IT sector, as the start-up community is becoming stronger, adding that most of the products could be widely used in the internet of things, smart agriculture, and in environmental protection.

The awards ceremony will be held in Ha Noi and broadcast live on VTV2 on November 19.
