ASEAN information security drill
On September, 27, ASEAN CERTS Incident Drill (ACID) was held in Vietnam with the participation of 15 countries. The theme of this year's drill "Investigating, analyzing and responding Ransomeware extortion malware incidents and network attacks."
In Vietnam, the ACID drill was held in Hanoi, Danang and Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of representatives from units inside and outside the national information security respond network such as VNPT, Viettel, Netnam, BKAV and units responsible for information security of ministries, representatives of the Departments of information and Communications, etc.
Mr. Nguyen Khac Lich, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team (VNCERT) said, the regular international drills aimed to strengthen and maintain the smooth communication channel between countries, ready to coordinate to respond to network security incidents. This is also an opportunity for technical staff to have real skills, to improve the knowledge, experience in responding to network security incidents.
The drills held by ASEAN always follow hot issues in information security in the region. In 2016, the situation of encrypted malwares in agencies and organizations in Vietnam are more and more serious. The encrypted malicious codes attack not only individual users (personal computers), but also data centers (servers). Especially, there are signs of involvement of organized hackers and domestic criminal groups.
The participants will practice skills of investigation, analysis and response to malicious codes with tasks like analyzing the impacts of malicious codes, tracing the attacking methods, warning the affected units, etc.
The ACID drills were held in recent 10 years between ASEAN CERTs with the participation of 10 ASEAN countries and 5 dialogue partners: Australia, Japan, India, China and Korea.
