Bilateral talk between Ministry of Information and Communications of S.R. Vietnam and Ministry of Post and Telecommunications of Cambodia
On September, 8th, 2016, in Hanoi, Minister of Information and Communications of S.R. Vietnam Truong Minh Tuan and Minister of Posts and Telecommunications of Cambodia Tram Iv Tek chaired the bilateral talk in the field of post and telecommunications between two ministries.
Attending the talk, in the Vietnam’s side were representatives of Authority of Telecommunications, Authoriy of Radio Frequency Management, Department of International Cooperation, Department of Information Techonology, VNPT, Viettel, Mobifone, VNPost. On the Cambodia’s side were representatives of Department of Telecommunications, Department of Posts and Telecommunications, Department of Information Technology, Cambodia Telecommunications Corporation, etc.
At the talk, Minister Truong Minh Tuan overviewed the development of post, telecommunications, IT, journalism, publishing in Vietnam. The telecommunications infrastructure and Internet are in stable operations. The IT sector receives the special concern from Vietnam’s government. Minister Truong Minh Tuan emphasized, with favourable investment policies, Vietnam is a dynamic market, the destination of many large telecommunications, IT companies. Vietnam is in the process of TV digitization and expectes to complete the transition by the year 2020.
Minister Truong Minh Tuan proposed the two ministries to strengthen cooperation in state management in the field of Information and Communications, share experiences and policies in managing Information and Communication, cooperate in information security, and facilitate enterprises more efficiently. Minister Truong Minh Tuan proposed Cambodia in supporting Vietnam in multilateral forums such as ITU, UPU.
Cambodia’s Minister affirmed that this visit would contribute to cooperation between the two ministries in the field of Information and Communications.
Regarding the situation of economic development, in recent years, Cambodia has continued to achieve the economic growth of about 7% on average. Minister Tram Iv Tek also presented an overview of the development of telecommunications, IT of Cambodia. Until August, 2016, Cambodia has issued 79 licenses to foreign companies investing in the country.
Minister Tram Iv Tek also expressed consensus with the cooperation proposals of Minister Truong Minh Tuan and expressed his desire to continue to cooperate with Vietnam on frequency coordination in border areas and electronic authentication. He also wanted Vietnam share experiences in managing provincial departments of Information and Communications to implement effective management in locals.
