Leveraging 4G potientials in the age of Internet of things

That is the theme of the 4G LTE International Conference, took place this morning (18/8) in Hanoi. The event was held, under the support of the Ministry of Information and Communications, by Vietnam Internet Association in collaboration with IDG Vietnam. Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam attended and delivered the opening speech.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister Phan Tam said, the mobile communication was developing strongly in Vietnam, bringing many benefits to socio-economic development. Therefore, MIC attached great importance to the development of next generation mobile broadband to built an advanced telecommunications infrastructure to be the basis for the economic development and improvement of the national competitiveness. MIC consulted the Government to issue Decision No. 149/QD-TTg dated January, 21st, 2016 approving the Program on developing broadband infrastructure until 2020. One of the basic objectives of the Program is to build the infrastructure of 3G/4G mobile broadband covering 95% of the population by 2020, capable of providing broadband services with good quality and at reasonable rates.

In 2009, Vietnam officially launched its 3G network. At present, the 3G network has covered the whole country. MIC also allowed telecommunications operators in Vietnam testing 4G LTE.
 
Deputy Minister affirmed, as the body of state adminstration in the field of ICT, MIC always supported organizations, businesses in the development and application of services, advanced technologies for the overall development of the sector in particular and the whole national economy in general.
 
The Conference included 1 main session and 2 panel discussions. The main session focused on hot issues in the deployment of 4G LTE as: 4G LTE deployment roadmap in Vietnam; Maximize the potential and development of LTE technology in Vietnam; Some concerned issues in deploying 4G LTE in Vietnam, etc.
