Special Ceremony of “Joint stamp issue between Vietnam and Thailand”

On the 40 th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand, on August, 5 th , in Hanoi, the Ministry of Information and Communications, Vietnam Post held a special ceremony of “Joint stamp issue between Vietnam and Thailand” and launched the application of augmented reality technology on Vietnamese postage stamps. Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong attended and delivered a speech at the event.

The stamp collection is designed by Artist Vu Kim Lien, Painter Nguyen Du (Vietnam Post) and Artist Pisit Prasitthanadoon (Thailand Post). The collection consists of 2 samples with the price of VND3,000 and 10,500 with 01 block representing the same subject, a kind of unique traditional art of the two countries: "Puppet".

In addition, the block of stamps also shows the unity by interlocking 4 stamps with the two countries' flags, which shows the closeness between cultures, customs, traditions between the two peoples and countries.
 
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong said, the joint stamp issue was a demonstration marking the cooperation between the two postal agencies, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations, at the same time, strengthen relation and cooperation between the two countries  to meet the wish of the two peoples for peace and regional cooperation.
 
At the ceremony, to facilitate philatelists and users to access to advanced technologies, Vietnam Post launched the application of augmented reality technology on Vietnamese postage stamps on mobile devices.  Accordingly, users can download the free application software Asean Stamp to mobile devices to find out more information about the stamp collection through video clips. The use of the technology in postage stamps will help the public to better understand cultural values, historical events reflecting on them.
