VNPT implemented the restructuring in a comprehensive manner
On August, 4 th , Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited and worked with leaders, officials and employees of Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) at VNPT’s headquarters. Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan attended the meeting.
At the meeting, VNPT’s Chairman Tran Manh Hung reported the achieved results after the restructuring. With the adoption of the new management model, after two years of restructuring, VNPT’s revenue, profit, state budget contribution as well as staff's income are all increased. The total revenue of the period 2011-2015 reached VND 213,165 billion with the average growth rate of 11.7%/year. The profit was VND 34,091 billion (92.1% of the plan) with the average growth rate of 3.7%/year.
After two years, VNPT's sales force now accounts for almost 40% of the Group workforce, increases almost 4 times more than before the restructuring. Corresponding to that, the ratio of indirect labor is also reduced.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan confirmed, VNPT had achieved many positive changes. Especially, VNPT has focused in industrial technology development, self-production of terminals serving the development needs of VNPT and other telecommunication/IT operators to help reducing the dependence on overseas manufacturers and enhance online information security.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised the achievements of VNPT. In a short time, VNPT has implemented the restructuring in a comprehensive manner and initially received positive results.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked VNPT to develop mobile telecommunication networks, bring Vinaphone to the leading position in the field of mobile telecommunications and expand its overseas markets.The Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) should accelerate provision of its information and technology products and services, as well as actively contribute to building the e-government. VNPT should focus on transmission of e-documents, and integration of online public services, including remote healthcare, education and transport management, added the Prime Minister.
He also required VNPT to improve and expand the specialised data transmission network of the Party and State to communes, as well as ensure the security of this important network.
In addition, Deputy PM Phuc urged the group to complete the non-core divestment as well as build and submit the production and business strategy and plans, particularly on its development during the 2016-2020 period.
