Deputy Minister Phan Tam attends 2016 World Information, Communication and Broadcasting Ministerial Meeting

From May, 24th to 27th, 2016 at the invitation of the Minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning of Korea, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam led a delegation of Ministry of Information and Communications of S.R of Vietnam, paid a working visit to Korea with many international bilateral and multilateral cooperation activities.

On May, 24th, 2016, in Incheon, Korea, Deputy Minister Phan Tam and the delegation attended 2016 World Information, Communication and Broadcasting Ministerial Meeting. This is the annual meeting organized by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning of Korea and attended by ministerial delegations in charge of communication and broadcasting from continents. This year meeting’s theme is "The role and contribution of broadcasting for future development".

On behalf of the Vietnam’s delegation, Deputy Minister Phan Tam confirmed: "Vietnam determines broadcasting as an important role in the social life as well as economic development. Vietnam focuses on the content of domestic productions in order to preserve the traditional culture, at the same time, pays more attention to bringing contents to the internet, because today's access to online contents is taking place faster than ever before".
 
On this occasion, the delegation of the Ministry of Information and Communications also attended the 13th Media Asia Summit (AMS) at Songdo Convention, Incheon. The Summit were attended by nearly 500 delegates from 48 countries, including leaders, senior managers, policy makers, experts and leading researchers in the field of broadcasting from Asia, Africa, Europe, North America and Middle East. The Summit, in 3 working days with 5 main sessions, focused on ways to develop the content of the press, cooperation mechanisms in order to attract the attention of the public in the context of the explosion of social networks and competition from other media.
 
In the framework of bilateral cooperation with South Korea, the delegation had a meeting with Mr Choi Sung-joon – President of Korea Communications Commission (KCC). Accordingly, the two sides exchanged views on the development of the broadcasting sector in the two countries. The two sides also agreed to establish collaborative team in co-production of radio and television programs, and to support and facilitate the cooperation between radio and television stations of both parties in areas such as sports, education, etc. In this occasion, the two sides also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of broadcasting and telecommunications.
 
The delegation also had a meeting with Deputy Minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning of Korea (MSIP) Choi Jae-You. At the meeting, Deputy Minister Phan Tam expressed his desire to promote cooperation with MSIP in training, human resource development, investment cooperation in the field of telecommunications and information technology, while further supporting each other in multilateral forums. The two sides also agreed to hold the first meeting of the joint working group in 2016 to coordinate and implement the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two ministries, conduct measures to implement joint cooperation activities between the two sides.
 
The delegation of the Ministry of Information and Communications also had a meeting with KISDI in the field of internet of things, visited and worked with Samsung Electronics Corporation in Suwon.
