Network security mandatory for businesses from July

Starting from July 1, organizations and enterprises will be required to invest in equipment and solutions that protect them from cyber attacks under the Law on Network Information Security.

The requirement was highlighted at a conference held by the Ministry of Information and Communications in Hanoi on April 13 to introduce the law.

The law aims to protect the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals and reduce network information risks. It regulates the rights and responsibilities of agencies, organizations and individuals in securing network information.

Nguyen Thanh Hung, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, said at the conference that the law is key to enhancing information security in Vietnam.

This is the first step to complete the legal framework in the field and make the most of resources to guarantee network information safety.

Ngo Tuan Anh, BKAV vice chairman in charge of cyber security, said the number of hacker attacks has increased in Vietnam in recent times, causing huge damage.

In the past, investment in information safety and security depended on the needs of organizations and enterprises due to the lack of clear rules.

But when the law takes effect, the deployment of network security solutions will be compulsory.

The Law on Network Information Security also provides requirements for providers of information safety products and services.

Anh said the law will contribute to ensuring the quality of service providers in this field and help the market grow better.

Nguyen Minh Duc, head of the security division under the Technology Department of FPT Corporation, described the law as a legal basis for organizations and enterprises to improve the safety and security of their operations.
