TELSOM-ATRC Leaders Retreat takes place in Hai Phong

The annual Telecommunication Senior Officials Meeting - ASEAN Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (TELSOM-ATRC) Leaders Retreat took place from April, 11 - 12, 2013 in Hai Phong. The conference attracted the participation of representatives from 10 ASEAN member countries to discuss ICT cooperation. Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Tran Duc Lai attended and delivered the speech.

At the conference, the delegates evaluated initiatives and projects implemented within the framework of the master plan on ICT development among ASEAN member countries towards 2015 and also discussed prioritized cooperative issues aiming at offering recommendations for two meetings of Senior Officials and ASEAN ICT Ministers which will be held by the end of 2013.

Addressing at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Tran Duc Lai highly appreciated ASEAN member countries’ efforts and achievements in promoting the  ICT cooperation as well as effectively implemented projects among ASEAN countries. He also suggested participants consider carefully planned targets in cooperation roadmap by the year 2015, define prioritized areas in line with the region"s development to effectively invest resources.

“It is necessary  to discuss a detailed cooperation program for the 2013- 2014 period based on orientations in the Cebu Declaration approved at the 12th ASEAN Telecommunication Ministers" Meeting in the Philipines last November”, he noted.

Earlier, Ministry of Information and Communications coordinated with the ASEAN Secretariat to organize the meeting of ATRC Joint Working Group/Working Groups (ATRC JWG/WGs) from April 8-10, and the European Union (EU) to hold the 2nd ASEAN Spectrum Policy Forum on April 8.
