MIC attends Global Standards Symposium (GSS- 12) in Dubai

A Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Hung, attended World Telecommunications Standards Assembly (WTSA-12) and Global Standards Symposium (GSS-12) in Dubai, UAE. These events were organized by International Telecommunications Union (ITU) from November 19-29.

The GSS-12  was a one-day event where ministers, regulators, heads of other international, regional and major national standards bodies, and industry from the different regions of the world discussed global ICT standards challenges, with a focus on the intersection of the ICT sector with other vertical sectors such as health care, utilities, and transport.

The GSS-12 focused on main contents in terms of narrowing standardization gap: from innovation to standards; global standardization mode: e-health and global standardization collaboration: round conference.

The first GSS was organized in South Africa in 2008 with the theme “narrowing standardization gap”.

Delivering the speech at the symposium, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Hung stressed that it would be essential for collaboration among standards development organizations and global ICT standards challenges, especially IT applications in fields in terms of health care and education for people living in rural areas.

The World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-12) is held every four years. The event will consider major matters related to world telecommunication standardization and specific matters which are compatible with the development of technology.

The conference attracted participants from management State Agencies in standards, telecommunications and IT of member countries, regional and international building organizations etc.
