Viet Nam attends the ninth APEC TEL Ministers’ Meeting (APEC TELMIN 9)

A delegation from the Ministry of Information and Communications, led by Deputy Minister Le Nam Thang, attended the the ninth APEC TEL Ministers’ Meeting-APEC TELMIN 9- in St. Petersburg , Russia from August 6-8.

At the meeting, ICT leaders exchanged and shared information on five main areas, namely developing ICT  to promote new growth, enhancing new socio- economic  activities through the use of ICT, promting safe and trusted ICT environment, promoting regional economic integration and strengthen cooperation in the ICT sector.

The St. Petersburg Declearation themed “ building confidence and security in the use of  ICT to promote economic growth and prosperity” was adapted at the meeting.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Nam Thang highly appreciated the effectiveness of cooperative programs in  APEC.
“It is important to prioritize activities towards the goal of narrowing the digital gap among economies, strengthen cooperation to establish a safe and trusted ICT environment, co-ordinate and share experiences in the implementation of  radio- TV digitalization, ensure equality among economies  in Internet era, cooperate in training and enhance the ability in ICT sector”, he stressed.

On the occasion, Deputy Minister Le Nam Thang had bilateral meeting with Russia, the United State and Japan to strengthen cooperative ties with APEC members.
