Minister Nguyen Manh Hung receives Head of Cuba Central Committee of Thought

On October 14, 2019, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Information and Communications, Deputy Head of the Central Commission for Propaganda and Education Nguyen Manh Hung met the Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Cuban Central Committee of Thought Victor Fidel Gaute López.

At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung introduced an overview of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the system of legal policies, plans and orientations for the development of Vietnam's cybersecurity.

Head of Cuba Central Committee of Thought Victor Fidel Gaute López expressed his desire to be supported by Vietnam, in particular the Ministry of Information and Communications in cybersecurity, training experts, and orientation of policy and legal system to help Cuba build a national cybersecurity monitoring center like Vietnam’s.
 
Currently Cuba has a population of 11.2 million people, of which 6.5 million have access to the Internet. The number of mobile subscribers is 5 million. The number of people participating in social networks is 2 million, so the need to ensure cybersecurity of Cuba is an urgent job. Cuba hopes Vietnam to share experiences, methods in control fake news, bad news; 4G development ... As scheduled, in November 2019, Cuba will send experts to Vietnam to learn experiences from the Ministry of Information and Communications, telecommunications enterprises, ICT associations.
 
Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that according to the 2018 International Telecommunication Union's ranking report, Vietnam ranked 50th out of 194 countries and territories for cybersecurity. Vietnam will accompany and assist Cuba in building a cybersecurity center, human resources, etc.
