Deputy Minister Phan Tam meets ITU Secretary General

On July, 24, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Phan Tam met Mr. Zhao Houlin, Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

At the meeting, on behalf of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Deputy Minister Phan Tam expressed his appreciation for the ITU's role in developing the world's telecommunications, assisting its members in deploying consultancy projects, policy development, human resources, database systems on standards, measurement rooms ...
  
At the same time, the Deputy Minister highly appreciated the role of ITU in the region, which has cooperated, provided maximum and effective support for Vietnam in recent years. Especially in July, the ITU has assisted Vietnam to successfully host a regional forum on smart urban and e-government with the participation of nearly 300 delegates from 17 countries, facilitating Vietnamese agencies to discuss and share with international experts on policies, standards, architecture and sustainable urban development models.
 
Deputy Minister committed to continue to be more actively involved in ITU's activities,  events, etc.
 
ITU Secretary General Zhao Houlin and Vice Minister Phan Tam exchanged ICT development experiences. The ICT development will contribute positively to socio-economic development, helping to increase the GDP of each country. The ITU will share experiences in building ICT development indicators, developing e-government, and support Vietnam in  proposed contents, Secretary General Zhao Houlin said.
