Da Nang software park recognised

Da Nang’s software park has been recognised as a centralised information technology centre – the third of its kind after two in Hanoi and HCM City – following Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s decision on December 7.

Da Nang Software Park is home to 75 Information technology businesses and 2,400 employees working. It’s the third centralised Information Technology centre in Vietnam after Hanoi and HCM City
 
 
At the announcement ceremony on Wednesday, director of the city’s information and technology, Tran Quang Thanh, said the 10,000sq.m park comprising of two buildings in the city’s downtown is home to 75 IT businesses including 22 foreign companies. It has attracted nearly VNĐ1.8 trillion (US$80 million) in investment and employs 2,400 people. 
 
Thanh said the park was a key centre of the IT industry in the city, helping boost the city’s e-governance in 2014.
 
According to latest reports, the city’s IT and communications industry, which counts 700 businesses and 22,000 employees, is expected to earn revenue of VNĐ13 trillion (US$575 million) in 2017 – double compared to 2014.
 
The IT industry is also expected to gain export turnover for software worth $67 million.
 
The city has called for investment in a software park in the Đa Phước International urban area and the 341-ha Da Nang IT Park.
 
In 2015, the city’s e-government system was transferred to 16 cities and provinces towards building smart cities including the IT and communications infrastructure, IT applications, policy and mechanisms for IT and communications and IT manpower resources.
 
Da Nang was the first city in central Vietnam to offer free wireless Internet services, with a maximum of 20,000 connections at major centres and streets in the city.
