Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Hung said that Vietnam's telecommunication market in the past 10 years had developed at a very fast pace and was fully opened.

Over the past decade, the quality of telecommunication services has been improving, while telecom rates have been continuously decreasing but telecom revenues have been growing steadily. The total revenue of telecommunications sector in 2016 increased by 7.5% compared to 2015.

However, Deputy Minister noted, currently the market of telecommunications services in Vietnam was hard to develop new subscribers. The competition among telecommunication operators to increase revenue and market share is increasingly fierce. Telecom operators are facing a huge challenge, that is the strong development of social networks.

In order to sustainably develop and maintain healthy competition, telecommunication operators need to change their business practices, corporate management and thinking in order to better meet the diversified demands of customers. The State management agencies also need to adjust regulations and management mechanism to facilitate the development of enterprises and markets.

He expressed his hope that this workshop would help participants understand experiences and practicalities of telecommunications management in different countries.

Also at the workshop, representatives from US, Malaysia telecoms regulators delivered important presentations on the management of the telecoms market, promoting competition and regulating the market.
