An event to launch 4G services in Timor-Leste |

This makes Telemor the seventh subsidiary of Viettel to provide 4G services among 11 countries in which the military-run company is present, following Cambodia, Laos, Burundi, Peru, Haiti and Vietnam.
A Viettel representative said that what is special about the 4G network in Timor-Leste is that this is the first market where 4G equipment manufactured by Viettel has been put into use.
Joining the market in 2013, Telemor is the currently the largest mobile operator in Timor-Leste, with its 2G and 3G networks covering 95% of the country’s population.
Telemor is also an important factor in driving Timor-Leste’s telecommunications growth, with mobile phone density surging from 55% in 2012 to 117% in 2015.
Earlier in April this year, Viettel officially launched the 4G network in Vietnam, covering 95% of the population, with 36,000 base transceiver stations.
In Peru, Viettel-owned Bitel has become the mobile operator with the largest 4G coverage in the country, helping the company to record a five-fold increase in users in the first six months of 2017, to over two million users at present.
