Vietnam, Lao enhance cooperation in information and technology

The Vietnamese Government wants to create favourable conditions for enterprises to invest in the postal, telecommunications and information and technology sectors in Laos, meeting the high demand for information exchange between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung made the statement during his reception for a high-ranking delegation of Lao Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, led by Minister Thansamay Kommasith.
 
The Deputy PM said that the working visit to Vietnam, made by the delegation of Lao Ministry, has a very important significance in strengthening and expanding the cooperation between the two nations.
 
He also affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will continue to support the Lao Government and people during their cause of national construction and renovation, as well as create favourable conditions for cooperation programmes in all fields, particularly economy, trade and investment.
 
The Deputy PM hopes that the Lao Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communication will cooperate closely to ensure the effective implementation of agreements in the near future.
 
For his part, Lao Minister Thansamay Kommasith said that during the visit, the two sides discussed and agreed upon the specific contents of the cooperation agreements in the field of information and communication technology (ICT).
 
He emphasised that over the recent years, the cooperation in this field between the two countries has brought many practical benefits, significantly contributing to improving the quality of ICT infrastructure in Laos.
 
The Lao Minister expressed his hope that the Vietnamese Government would continue to support its enterprises to expand their investment in Laos, contributing to the development and modernisation of the information infrastructure, to provide new services for Lao people.
