At the reception, Mr. Raper Reiser briefly introduced the activities of BNP Paribas Bank in Vietnam. BNP Paribas has been in Vietnam for 27 years, with two branches in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Many state-owned enterprises and FDI enterprises, especially 4 large telecom operators: VNPT, Mobifone, Viettel and FPT, are its clients. He expressed his desire to share BNP Paribas' experiences on the equitization.

He believed that in the next 10 years, the equitization process would be very strong in Vietnam and spread across many fields. The first successful equitizations will contribute to the inflow of foreign capital into Vietnam and accelerate the equitization process.

Deputy Minister Pham Hong Hai said that the Government of Vietnam wanted to equitise telecoms enterprises, especially large telecom enterprises, which the State did not need to hold 100% of capital.

He also hoped that BNP Paribas would share information on the characteristics of equitization of telecoms businesses and the experience gained after the IPO of Vietjet Air.

A representative of BNP Paribas said that the telecommunications sector was a sensitive area in terms of infrastructure. Therefore, the evaluation of the enterprise in the market plays a very important role.

Deputy Minister Pham Hong Hai emphasized that when equitizing VNPT and Mobifone, the Government of Vietnam did not consider revenue to be the single most important objective. The basic goal is that, after equitization, enterprises have opportunities to grow stronger.

Deputy Minister suggested that if BNP Paribas Bank wanted to learn more about Vietnam's telecommunication market, it might coordinate with MIC to organize a small workshop to share information, experiences and issues of mutual interests related to the equitization of Vietnamese telecommunications businesses.
