Vietnam Journalists’ Association deploys tasks for 2017

The Vietnam Journalists’ Association held a national conference to set tasks for 2017 in Da Lat city, in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong on April 22.

The conference was attended by Party Central Committee members: Thuan Huu, Editor-in-chief of Nhan Dan newspaper and Chairman of VJA Vietnam Journalists’ Association; Truong Minh Tuan, Minister of Information and Communication; and Pham Van Linh, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education; together with over 500 delegates representing nearly 20,000 members of the VJA.
 
Discussions at the conference focused on evaluating the achieved results, identifying difficulties and challenges; analysing the causes of shortcomings in order to devise solutions and make a strong change in press activities; at the same time as setting out solutions to effectively implement the Press Law 2016 and moral regulations for journalists.
 
Participants at the event agreed that over the past years, the media followed the leadership of the Party and State, providing timely, accurate and comprehensive coverage of political and socio-economic issues of the country and the world, while serving as a trustworthy forum for the people.
 
The sector made significant contributions to the success of the 12th National Party Congress and the election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and the People’s Council at all levels for 2016-2021.
 
The press popularised achievements in the course of renewal, gave suggestions on solutions to various matters and combated corruption, wastefulness and social evils.
 
In 2017, the VJA set out 15 key tasks and solutions to promoting its activities at all levels, as well as improvedimplementation of the Politburo’s Directive 05 on strengthening the study of and adherence to the thought, morals and style of President Ho Chi Minh; and strongly promoting the position of the VJA as the President and Secretary General of the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists for the 2015-2017 term, contributing to actively implementing the Party and State's policies in the field of journalism and communication.
 
On this occasion, two VJA members were honoured with the Labour Order, second and third class. Thirty-threecollectives and 156 individuals also received certificates of merit for their outstanding performance in 2016.
 
On the same day, the VJA officially launched its electronic portal at hoinhabaovietnam.vn; nhabaovn.vn; and nhabaovagiamsatxahoi.vn.
