Minister Truong Minh Tuan receives Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan

On March 23, in Hanoi, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan received Mr. Kunio Umeda - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam.

Minister Truong Minh Tuan appreciated the ICT cooperation between the two countries in recent years. Especially, in the field of post, telecommunications, information technology and information security, Japan is one of the important partners of Vietnam. Minister Truong Minh Tuan affirmed that Vietnam attached great importance to ICT development, considering it as one of the most important resources to narrow the gap between Vietnam and the world.
 
Minister Truong Minh Tuan introduced and exchanged information on cooperation in the fields of post, telecommunications, information security and smart city construction.
 
In recent years, MIC has cooperated closely with Japan Post, of which the most prominent is the non-cash payment project. This is a new cooperation in the field of Post. The minister affirmed that MIC would strongly support for this project.
 
The Minister also emphasized that: Currently, Vietnam was piloting the smart city construction of 5 big cities. Therefore, Vietnam hoped that Japan would support in sharing experiences such as IT applications, how to use IT infrastructure in smart cities.
  
For his part, the Ambassador said that Vietnam was an important partner of Japan. He emphasized that the bilateral cooperation in general and ICT in particular would be promoted. The Ambassador expressed his pleasure at the fact that Vietnam had increasingly promoted the use of IT in the country's development process, especially in the construction of smart cities. The Ambassador suggested the MIC in particular, the Government of Vietnam in general to further consolidate the existing cooperation and further develop the relationship between the two countries.
