The APCERT Drill 2017 is participated by 28 APCERT members from more than 20 countries and territories and 4 invited centers of the OIC-CERT. The organizer of the drill is the Singapore Computer Emergency Response Team (SingCERT) and the entire incident scenario is edited and implemented by SingCERT without notice to the participating teams.
The Vietnamese team participated in the drill with about 200 participants and technicians from more than 100 member units of the Incident Rescue Network, the host of national critical information systems and specialized units.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Hung said DDoS attacks in 2016 had increased dramatically with increasing complex. It is forecasted that in 2017 the situation would be more sophisticated. The impact of cyber attacks not only caused damages to agencies, organizations and businesses, but also affected the whole economy, politics, defense, security and interests of every citizen.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Hung highly appreciated the organization of the drill, which provided the opportunity for information security technicians to practice practical rescue operations. This is also an activity contributing to raising awareness to ensure information security for agencies, businesses and communities.
He required VNCERT and participants to try all their best to complete the drill and comply with all international regulations in this joint activity. This also contributes to the role and position of Vietnam in the eyes of international friends, Deputy Minister emphasized.
