At the meeting, Minister Truong Minh Tuan expressed his pleasure at the cooperation between Vietnam and the United States over the past time contributing positively to the stable and sustainable development of each country.
In particular, the field of ICT has achieved remarkable results and increasingly proved to be an important bridge promoting comprehensive partnership between the two countries.
Minister Truong Minh Tuan noted the positive efforts of the US Embassy, US business community in investing in Vietnam. Almost major US IT corporations have invested in Vietnam such as Intel, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Cisco, Motorola, Qualcomm, Facebook, Google, etc.
Minister Truong Minh Tuan said that in the current period, the Government of Vietnam was actively promoting scientific and technological innovations, including the construction of smart cities. It is expected that in the coming time, Vietnam will build 5 smart cities in the whole country. The Minister hopes that US businesses can share experiences and cooperate in building assessment criteria of smart cities, as well as cooperate with localities in planning and implementing.
Since the two sides signed the Vietnam-US Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) in 2001, Vietnam has always provided favorable conditions for US corporations to invest in Vietnam. The Minister suggested that US businesses be ready to cooperate with Vietnamese authorities to maintain and develop a healthy and stable business environment while at the same time fighting against law violations causing instability and harm to the traditions and customs of the Vietnamese people.
Minister Truong Minh Tuan expressed his hope that the Ambassador would continue to support and share Vietnam's difficulties in managing cross-border information, support the Ministry of Information and Communications in handling violations in the network environment.
US Ambassador Ted Osius expressed his pleasure at the development of US-Vietnam relationship in all areas over the years, especially in ICT sector. The Ambassador noted that the relationship had a strong development due to the close cooperation in the field of ICT between the two countries. In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the Ambassador believes that the cooperation in the field of IT and telecommunication between the MIC and US businesses will continue to be strengthened.
Ambassador Ted Osius affirmed that the meeting with Minister Truong Minh Tuan was important to promote cooperation in the field of information and communication, remove obstacles between the two sides in the past and develop strongly in the coming time.
