Minister Truong Minh Tuan talked with Minister for EU Affairs and Trade of Sweden

On October, 6, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan talked and worked with the Minister of EU Affairs and Trade of Sweden Ann Linde. Attending the meeting were representatives of Authority of Telecommunications, Authority of Information Security, Department of International Cooperation and VNPT. In the Swedish side were Swedish Ambassador in Vietnam, Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of Sweden in Vietnam and representatives of Swedish businesses.

At the meeting, Minister Ann Linde shared the Swedish business delegation to Vietnam this time especially interested in 4G licenses, smart cities, smart transport, smart environment, etc. From the poorest country in Europe 100 years ago, Sweden had become a pioneering country in innovation thanks to the successful partnership between the three parties: State, businesses, and universities and research facilities.

Presenting an overview of the development of Vietnam’s Post, Telecommunications and ICT, Minister Truong Minh Tuan confirmed Vietnam would continue to implement the renovation and open door policy to integrate into the international economic. Information and Communications continue to develop as a spearhead social, economic sector contributing to the economic development of the country. MIC has carried 4G testing and soon officially license for businesses to offer 4G services in 2016. IT has become an important economic sector with an annual growth rate higher than others. IT industry revenue reached nearly $ 40 billion, contributing 25% of Vietnam's GDP.
 
Minister Truong Minh Tuan said: the typical example for cooperation relations between the two countries in the field of Information and Communications was Ericsson, the leading telecommunications group of Sweden. This is the first foreign telecom group invest in Vietnam, provide GSM and 3G equipment for Vietnam’s telecom businesses. In the future, Ericsson will continue to cooperate in the project of building smart cities in Vietnam and other areas such as mobile broadband, television, digital media, etc.
 
Minister Truong Minh Tuan also suggested Swedish support Vietnam in training journalists, organizing ICT seminars and providing scholarships for journalists, telecommunication engineers, exchanging and sharing experience in building smart cities, sustainable energy use and recycle.
 
For suggestions from the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam, Minister Anne Linde committed Sweden was ready to support Vietnam in developing smart cities and closely associated with information security.
