Vietnam - Cambodia strengthens cooperation in telecommunications

On September, 22, the MIC high-level delegation led by Minister Truong Minh Tuan had a meeting with Minister of Post and Telecommunications of Cambodia Tram Iv Tek, during a working visit in Cambodia from September, 21 to 23.

The talk focused mainly on important contents, directions of cooperation that the two sides had basically agreed. Specifically, the two sides agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of ICT, through the effective implementation of the Agreement between the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam and the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Cambodia on cooperation in the field of telecommunications, signed on September, 22, 2012 in Hanoi and the MoU between Authority of Radio Frequency Management (MIC) and Cambodia Post and Telecommunications Department, signed on December, 19, 2011 in Phnom Penh.
 
The two ministers agreed to promote cooperation between the authorities in the field of ICT, especially information security. This was immediately concretized by a MoU in the field of electronic certification, that was signed immediately after the meeting, between National Electronic Authentication Centre (NEAC) and a specialized unit of the Ministry Posts and Telecommunications of Cambodia.
 
Minister Truong Minh Tuan emphasized one important, potential cooperation content between the two countries was to increase business opportunities in the field of Information and Communication, especially the cooperation between telecommunications, IT enterprises of the two countries. Accordingly, the two sides will support and create favorable conditions for Vietnam enterprises investing in Cambodia and vice versa, Cambodia businesses operating in Vietnam.
 
The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in human resources. This content will soon be concretized and detailed in the documents of cooperation between Posts and Telecommunications Technology Institute (Vietnam) and Posts and Telecommunications Academy of Cambodia.
 
Finally, the two sides agreed to continue close cooperation and mutual support in international organizations specialized in telecommunications and information technology, such as ITU, UPU.
