The contest is open to Vietnamese individuals and groups ages 16 to 35, who are living, studying or working abroad.

The contest involves collecting and providing information, historical and legal documentations confirming Vietnam's sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos; proposing ideas on protecting national sovereignty over seas and islands; and presenting solutions to develop the sea economy and sea culture, as well as protect Vietnam’s sea environment.

Entries should be submitted to the Office of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee at No. 64 Ba Trieu Street in Hanoi or via email at chuquyenbiendaoquehuong@gmail.com no latter than October 31, 2016.

The organising board will present one first, two second, three third and five consolation prizes worth VND75 million to the top entries. The winners will also have a chance to visit Truong Sa island district.

The contest is expected to help overseas Vietnamese students to fully understand the strengths and potential of their country’s seas and islands, and will encourage responsibility towards their homeland.
