Special issue of " Vietnam - Portugal joint issued stamps"

On July, 1 st , 2016, in Hoi An City (Quang Nam province), Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam Post, in collaboration with Quang Nam People's Committee held a special issue ceremony of "Vietnam - Portugal joint issued stamps". Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong attended and spoke at the event.

The joint issued stamps of Vietnam and Portugal is a message of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. This is also an important milestone contributing to further tighten cooperation ties between Vietnam and Portugal.

This set includes 2 samples combining many different spaces creating connections from the past to the present.

The stamps were jointly designed by Artist To Minh Trang (Vietnam Post) and the Portuguese painter, with the size of 43x32mm. The first stamp design shows the vase of Chu Dau pottery and the entire view of Hoi An. The second stamp is an unique pottery plate and the entire city of Lisbon of Portugal.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong said the release of these stamps is one of practical activities of the Information and Communications sector and Quang Nam province in commemoration of 500 years of Vietnam – Portugal trade.
 
The stamps will be a demonstration marking the cooperation between two postal authorities and states, at the same time, boosting bilateral relations and strong cooperation between the two countries to meet the aspiration of the two peoples, contributing to the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.
 
At the same time of issuing stamps in Hoi An, Portugal Post will also release these stamps. These stamps will be widely used in 192 countries and territories of the World Postal Union, as well as many countries in the world.
