Opening of the 4th Workshop on Quality of Service and Supply Chain Improvement Project in the Asian countries

On May, 30 th , 2016, in Da Nang, Ministry of Information and Communications cooperated with the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and Vietnam Post hold a workshop on Quality of service and Supply chain Improvement Project in the Asian countries.

Participants of the workshop were Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong, General Director of Vietnam Post Pham Anh Tuan and over 50 delegates from the 21 Asian countries, representatives of UPU International Bureau, Project Director and UPU experts on quality of service and supply chain.

This project is a technical assistance activities of the UPU to assist countries in improving the quality of postal services and supply chain. This is one of important strategies of the Doha Postal Strategy 2012 - 2016. UPU experts will support countries to build regional action plan on quality of service, such as process improvement, advanced technology applications, technical solutions, etc; to give instructions to countries in building their action plans, as well as monitor the implementation and achievement of each country, evaluate and grant certifications for achieved criteria according to UPU’s quality standards.
 
In the opening speech, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation between countries in order to further improve the quality of postal services, to meet the growing demands of customers. At the same time, Deputy Minister appreciated the initiative of UPU in implementing the project to improve the quality of service and supply chain in the region.
 
Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hong suggested participants share information and exchange experiences of each country in improving operation processes and service quality.
 
At the workshop, UPU experts share updated information on the status of quality of postal services in Asia, the integrated supply chain of transportation, customs and security, as well as propose developing trends of quality of service and supply chain in the period 2017 - 2020. This is a good opportunity for Asian countries and experts working with the UPU as well as representatives of other countries in the region on issues related to quality of service and supply chain, and a bridge between the UPU and the countries in the deployment, effective implementation of international requirements in the field of quality management and supply chain.
 
The workshop takes place from May, 30th – June, 02nd 2016.
