Awarding the 45th UPU letter writing competition

On May, 20 th , 2016, at Lien Bao High School, Vinh Yen, Vinh Phuc Province, Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnam Post and Youth Pioneer Newspaper co-organized the awarding ceremony of the 45 th UPU international letter-writing competition (2016). Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong attended the event.

The 45th UPU International Writing Competition  (2016) was launched from October, 2015 to February, 2016. The Organizing Committee received 956, 382 submissions from pupils from all regions across the country.

With the theme " Write a letter to your 45-year-old self”, this opening theme has really stimulated the imagination and creativity of pupils. This topic was chosen to mark the 45th edition of the international contest. After 5 rounds, the National Jury Board selected 100 letters for the final round. And the final results are: 01 First prize, 03 Second prizes and 05 Third prizes. 9th grader Nguyen Thi Thu Trang from Nguyen Trai High School (Nam Sach, Hai Duong) won the First prize.
 
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Head of the Organizing Board Nguyen Minh Hong said, Vietnam had 30 times participating in the international competition and 11 times gained international prizes. To obtain this outstanding result, MIC appreciated and thanked the positive contribution of all Members of the Organizing Board,  Jury Board, as well as all local units. The joint efforts of many agencies, units and individuals have contributed to make the UPU Letter-Writing Competition become an annual activity of schools and pupils nationwide. The quality of this year competition is very impressive. The awarded pupils are not only from major provinces and cities but also from remoted areas and ethnic minorities.
 
Trang’s letter will be translated into French and English to compete at the 45th UPU International Letter-Writing Competition for Young People in Switzerland.
