At the conference, the ministers discussed plans to implement cooperation activities in 2016, an important year for ASEAN, especially in the field of information. This is the first year after the ASEAN Community was officially established on December, 31th, 2015.
With the theme "One ASEAN: Connectivity, Community, Opportunity”, the Ministers discussed contents of a promoting strategy for ASEAN with people being the center, giving people the initiative to participate in all the events of ASEAN to enhance overall quality of life and positive contributions of the community.
The conference discussed and adopted the Strategic Plan on Information and Communication for the 2016-2025 period, to be the basis for implementing specific activities in the field of information and communication.
Speaking at the Conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Hung stressed the importance of cooperation among ASEAN countries to improve the quality of human resources for the field of information and communication, especially the development of overall strategic plans together with specific activities to strengthen cooperation within ASEAN and the dialogue partners. In the current period, with the development of the Internet, especially the social networking, ASEAN should focus on initiatives and plans to build a secure network environment for the citizens of ASEAN, especially for children and young generation. He also emphasized the role and responsibilities of the AMRI in promoting the communication plans for other areas under the 3 main pillars.
