Deputy Minister Pham Hong Hai receives Ambassador of the Republic of Austria

On March, 03rd, 2016, at the Headquarter of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Deputy Minister Pham Hong Hai had a meeting with Mr. Thomas Loidl, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria in Vietnam.

Accompanying Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria were Mr. Andreas Rudas, Vice President of RTL Group, and Mr. Jonas Engwall, Director of RTL Group"s Representative Office in Hong Kong.

At the meeting, the Ambassador talked with Deputy Minister Pham Hong Hai about creating license conditions for RTL Group.
 
Deputy Minister Pham Hong Hai informed, Government of Vietnam did not restrict foreign programs broadcasted on Vietnam Television’s network. However, these programs must comply with the provisions on licensing procedure, edition, translation as stipulated in Decree 06/2016/ND-CP of the Government relating to management and use of radio and television services in Vietnam.
 
According to the representatives of RTL Group, the Group has provided television services in 18 countries. RTL currently has no official license in Vietnam but corporates in producing some television programs like Vietnam Idol. Vietnam is a priority market of the Group since the early days. RTL representatives stressed, the content of RTL’s television programs were friendly, suitable with the culture and customs of Asian countries. RTL closely censored all contents before broadcasting and strictly complied with relevant provisions of Vietnamese laws.
