Deputy Minister Do Quy Doan attends Spring Press Festival in Laos

Viet Nam ’s Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) cooperated with Vietnamese Embassy and Cultural Centre in Laos to open Spring Press Festival from 11 to 21 April 2011, aiming at welcoming success of the 11 th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and the 9 th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party. The Spring Press Festival is being organized on the occasion of traditional Tet of Laos. Deputy Minister Do Quy Doan also attended this Festival and worked with Ministry of Information and Culture of Laos.

Attending the opening ceremony of the Spring Press Festival on April 11, 2011 were Mounkeo Olabun, Minister of Information and Culture of Laos; Dr. Bosengkham Vongdara Deputy Minister of Information and Culture of Laos; Ta Minh Chau, Ambassador of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Viet Nam in Laos; Nguyen The Ky, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission of Propaganda and Education; Ha Minh Hue, Vice Chairman of Press Association and Deputy Director- General of Viet Nam News Agency; overseas Vietnamese representatives in Laos and representatives of central and local agencies of two countries.

“Vietnamese press always has continuous innovation and development along with country’s innovation and reflects correctly and timely information on economics, politics, society and nation- building works. Moreover, the press also contributes to tightening the Viet Nam and Laos friendship”, Deputy Minister Do Quy Doan said.

With over 500 printed publications, outstanding radio and television programs and e- newspaper, the Spring Press Festival is an occasion to introduce achievements in politics, economics, society as well as nation, people and cultural traditions of Viet Nam to Laos.

On this occasion, Minister of Information and Culture of Laos Mounkeo Olabun received Deputy Minister Do Quy Doan and a delegation of MIC on 12 April, 2011. Both sides exchanged the status of development and press, radio and television management works in Viet Nam and Laos and projects in this field of two countries, especially in building infrastructure and training staff.

Deputy Mister Do Quy Doan congratulated the success of the 9th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and expressed his wish that two Ministries would strengthen further cooperation on Press, Publication, Radio and Televison in 2011- 2015 cooperation plan.
