Viet Nam - Sweden to boost cooperation in press information

Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and Embassy of Sweden held the Signing Ceremony of Specific Agreement between the Goverments of Viet Nam and Sweden on Support to Training Center for Vietnamese journalists in the period of 2010- 2013 in Ha Noi on 7 September, 2010.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Do Quy Doan - Deputy Minister of Information and Communications; Ms. Marie Attosson - Head of Development Cooperation Section of Swedish Government and representatives from relevant units under MIC and Embassy of Sweden in Viet Nam.

Over the past 10 years, support of Swedish Government on the field of information through Project “Further training of Journalists in Vietnam” from 1998- 2009 has been one of the prior policies of Swedish government in the development cooperation with Vietnam. The project aims to support Vietnamese journalists to be oriented to the profession, modern and self- reliant to the trend of intergration and development of press in the current period. In the project, MIC arranged further professional training courses for nearly 5,000 Vietnamese journalists. Courses were held for all kind of presses, all objects including leaders of the press agencies, reporters, editors and all professional fields.
 
The Signing Ceremony of Specific Agreement between the Goverments of Vietnam and Sweden aims to continue supporting further training for journalists, contribute to development of Viet Nam press in the 2010- 2013 period. This project will support Training Centers for Vietnamese journalists to bring new opportunities in press training improving in the orientation to the profession and modern, meeting the growing information demand of people and contributing to country building and protection.
 
Deputy Minister Do Quy Doan expressed his gratitude to Swedish Government for its supports and contributition during the past time. Deputy Minister also affirmed the effectiveness of project in which 5,000 Vietnamese journalists was trained, improved skill and accessed to modern press.
 
Swedish Government will strengthen the cooperation with and further support Viet Nam in developing journalism in the coming time, expected Deputy Minister .
