The Government always places people and businesses at the center of digital transformation process and considers them as the target and driving force of this process, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The Vietnamese Government chief made the above statement at a program held in Ha Noi on Monday to mark the National Digital Transformation Day (October 10).
Mr. Pham pointed out five measures for Viet Nam to accelerate the national digital transformation process especially the implementation of the national strategy on digital transformation (which sets out specific goals for Viet Nam to become a digital society in 2030), improvement of Viet Nam’s performance and rankings in e-Government, the global innovation index (GII), the global competitiveness index (GCI) in line with standards of international organizations.
The Government chief also asked for higher online public service rates, better public service quality and enhancement of people’s satisfactory level.
Synchronous solutions should be taken to develop and improve the quality of digital human resources associated with innovation and application of science and technology, he said.
Enterprises should accelerate digitalization of production and business activities, establish effective digital service delivery channels, especially e-commerce, online payment.
Why October 10?
On April 22, 2022, Prime Minister Pham signed Decision No. 505/QD-TTg to select October 10 as National Digital Transformation Day.
The day aims to promote effective implementation of the National Digital Transformation Program to 2025, with orientation to 2030.
On October 9, 49 organisations, businesses, products and solutions were honoured at Viet Nam Digital Awards 2022 for their contributions to the process of national digital transformation.
As of mid-2022, breakthroughs were recorded in the digital economy, with its added value having made up about 10.41 percent of the Southeast Asian country's GDP, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Nearly 100 percent of the enterprises used e-invoices, e-commerce revenue reached 11.27 percent of total retail sales, 66 pẻcent of the people aged 15 and above had payment accounts (1 percent higher than the preset target).
About 70.91 percent of the adults owned smartphones (compared to the target of 85 percent), and 71.75 percent of all the households used broadband cable internet (compared to the target of 75 percent).
