Last year the Ministry of Information and Communications cooperated with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to successfully organize the ITU Digital World Expo and Conference.

After 50 years of being held in many countries, the World Telecommunication Exhibition began a new journey in 2020, with a new name - ITU Digital World. This is an initiative of Vietnam, which is highly appreciated by ITU and its member countries.

Opening on October 20, ITU Digital World 2020 with the theme "Building a digital world together" was held online on the Make in Vietnam platform at digitalworld2020.vn.

The event included the Ministerial Conference, seminars with the participation of Ministers in charge of ICT and digital economy, and leaders of specialized management agencies of many ITU member countries. It attracted the attention of the ICT community around the world.

The 3-day global ICT event was the first online exhibition in the history of world telecommunications exhibitions and also had the participation of the largest number of Ministers.

At the ministerial roundtable held within the framework of ITU Digital World 2020, the ministers of many countries shared valuable experiences and policies on promoting the role of ICT during and after the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the closing speech, the representative of the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications said that the online digital world has created many more opportunities. “Moving from the real world to the virtual world will be a great challenge for humanity. This is a long way to go and ITU should lead this journey," he said.
