First press center inaugurated in HCMC

The first press center was inaugurated and put into operation at District 1, HCMC on May 5.

The inauguration ceremony drew the attendance of HCMC Party Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Hoang Vinh Bao, Chairman of the HCMC municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong, among others.

Addressing the event, Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong hoped that the center would supply information for the press as well as daily press responses. 
 
The modern and professional multimedia center is expected to serve important national and international events.
 
The center was built at 225 Tran Hung Dao street, District 1, over 841 square meters; 2.4-2.9 kilometers far from the city People’s Committee and Party Committee. Hence, city leaders can arrive at the center to supply information at the fastest in every traffic conditions.
 
In the second phase after 2020, the center will be broadened to 2,000-3,000 square meters.
 
The establishment of the center shows the city’s determination in implementing the press’ rights of being informed and accessing information sources; positively using press information as a resource, means and method to connect social resources to attend in policy feedback.
 
On this occasion, Mr. Tu Luong, Deputy Director of the Information and Communications Department was appointed as Director of the Press Center in a five-year term.
