The Cambodian Prime Minister wants Vietnam to support the building of the National Cyber Security Monitoring Center

On the working visit to Cambodia Kingdom (March 13-16), Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung came to greet the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

One of the main contents of this visit is network information security and anti-fake information issues. Prime Minister Hun Sen asked Vietnam to support the construction of the National Cyber Security Monitoring Center for Cambodia and complete this project in 2019. He is pleased with Vietnam's practical cooperation for Cambodia.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung summarized the cooperation with the Ministry of Information; the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Cambodia and related units and expressed his wish that Prime Minister Hun Sen would continue to support and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese technology and telecommunications enterprises to operate and invest in Cambodia, such as Metfone (Viettel Group), Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and FPT; as well as to create conditions for other Vietnamese enterprises to participate in projects of IT application in the Government and State of Cambodia, e-government projects, smart cities, infrastructure modernization, etc.
 
During a meeting at the headquarters of Cambodia's Ministry of Information on March 14, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized this visit to realize the agreement signed between the two countries at the visit to Cambodia (from March 25-26) of the General Secretary, President of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong. Minister Nguyen Manh Hung and Cambodian Information Minister Khieu Kanharith signed Cooperation Plan and Action Program between the two ministries in 2019. 
 
Minister Nguyen Manh Hung continues to support the use of the Vietnamese Government's ODA for projects in expanding networks and improving the capacity of Cambodian national radio-television stations; training courses and annual exchanging of reporters between the two countries; coordinating with the Ministry of Information of Cambodia to organize propaganda and preventing cybercrime, fake information, expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2019.
 
The two Ministries agreed to continue to strengthen the increase of news covering socio-economic situations, countries and peoples to help strengthen the understanding and solidarity between the two peoples.

Within the framework of his visit to Cambodia, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung also had a meeting with Minister Posts and Telecommunications of Cambodia Tram Iv Tek and shared a series of Vietnam ICT industry orientations. At present, Vietnam focuses on developing logistic networks to promote e-commerce; developing telecommunications infrastructure as a foundation for digital infrastructure, testing 5G mobile network; developing e-government, smart city; closely monitoring cybersecurity, ensuring cybersecurity for government agencies and national information infrastructure; developing Vietnam's digital ecosystem, promoting the 4.0 Revolution.
 
Minister Tram Iv Tek said, in order to serve the development of the Quadrangle Strategy, the Cambodian Government promotes the development of high-speed Internet connection and e-government, postal services. So Cambodia hopes Vietnam help in developing postal services, as well as support the construction of an anti-cyberattack infrastructure on a national scale. 
 
The representatives of the two ministries signed a Cooperation Plan; a Cooperation Agreement between the Authority of Information Security (Vietnam) and the General Department of ICT (Cambodia); a Cooperation Agreement between Bkav Group and Ministry of Post and Telecommunications of Cambodia.
 
The two sides will continue to negotiate the division of frequency use for new generation broadband mobile communication systems; deploy number portability services; digital television. Vietnam will help Cambodia build a cybersecurity monitoring center.
 
Minister Nguyen Manh Hung also asked Cambodia's Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications to continue to support and create the most favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses such as Viettel, VNPT, FPT, VNPost ... to invest and do business in Cambodia, especially participating in projects of IT application in the Government’s and the State’s organizations, e-government, smart cities, etc.
