38th National Television Festival opens

The 38th National Television Festival officially opened in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong’s city of Da Lat, on December 19.

This is a traditional annual activity of the television industry, co-organised by Vietnam Television, Lam Dong Radio and Television Station. The event gathered more than 1,000 delegates from the Radio and Television Station and television production units in the country.

Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said that in recent time, the media in general and the television in particular have developed vigorously and comprehensively, contributing to development in the country, accompanying the renovation process, as well as national construction and defence, to strengthen the national unity bloc, promote the image of the country and people of Vietnam in the international arena.

The Deputy PM emphasised that in order to meet the increasing demands of the public, the information must be fast, accurate and always carefully oriented, not only politically but also culturally and aesthetically.
 
In this year’s festival, the organisers received 496 entries in nine categories, including children’s show; reportage; science-education show; talk show; ethnic language show; music show; stage performance and television drama, which are popularly produced at radio-television stations, totaling more than 23,000 minutes.
 
Notably, this is the first time the festival will honour films adapted from foreign scripts, or foreign literary works and long-running documentary films.
 
In the framework of the festival, two seminars, namely, "Social Networking and Television" and "Mobile Devices, Compact Solution for Television Programme Production", with participation of national and international experts, as well asa photo exhibition by television makers, will be held.
 
The festival runs until December 22.
