Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Hoang Vinh Bao emphasized the important significance of the festival in strengthening external information activities in border areas, thereby contributing to raising awareness of the authorities, sectors and people in border areas about the responsibility in maintaining peace and stability of the country as well as the region and the world.
Mr. Kham Sing DUANGVANDY, Counselor of the Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Vietnam also stressed: this festival would help in strengthening the special traditional friendship and expanding the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
At the opening ceremony, the Organization Board reviewed and awarded 10 prizes for photos participating in the contest "Beauty of Dien Bien" - one of activities in the festival program.
The Festival took place in two days December 8 - 9.
